The role of IAM has evolved significantly in recent years. Traditional network perimeters have largely disappeared due to cloud computing, hybrid working, and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) applications. Identity has become the primary security perimeter, meaning that every authentication request must be evaluated regardless of where the user or device is located.

At the same time, organisations must manage not only human users but also machine identities, APIs, service accounts, and AI agents, which often outnumber human identities. These identities require the same level of governance, monitoring, and lifecycle management as employee accounts.

Consequently, modern IAM is no longer just an IT administration function. It is a strategic cybersecurity capability that enables organisations to securely support digital transformation, meet regulatory requirements, and protect critical systems from increasingly sophisticated identity-based attacks. Successful IAM programmes combine robust authentication, least-privilege access, continuous monitoring, automated identity governance, and user-friendly access mechanisms to provide security without unnecessarily hindering business operations.

The Excellence In Identity and Access Management (IDAM) event will bring together strategist, implementors and users from the public and private sectors to discuss the current challenges and trends.

During this meeting, all attendees will be able to share their own experiences and the challenges they are currently facing. In addition, you will then have the opportunity to look at different ways of addressing these problems and an overall look at where we were, where we are and what needs to be done to get to where we need to be.
